La Construction d'un Rêve

La Construction d'un Rêve

Acrylic and Embroidery on Canvas, 36 x 42 in.

“The Construction of a Dream”. I did this commisioned painting for a client in Belgium, while being in Cuba. I travelled with it back to Lima, where I experimented embroidering the canvas with the same techniques I used in my fashion work. The fish hae a thin organza layer on top. I finally travelled to Belgium with my canvas once again rolled in my arms, and delivered it to it’s final home.

Desert Gem

Eye of the Unknown

Acylic on Canvas, 24 x 36 in.

I made this painting as a response to my experience during COVID times. Even though facing the struggle of economic insecurity, I have found a deeper and more meaninful connection with my self and my loved ones than I had in many years. I feel 2020 has many lesons to teach us and hopefully will mark a before and after in human rights. Against all odds, I found beauty in a stopped world.

Universos Celestiales

Universos Celestiales

Acrylic on Canvas, 79 x 79 in.

Meaning “Celestial Universes” in Spanish, I chose to mix in my graphic style in this painting. I freely let myself draw with no previous concept in mind. Later on, I recognized several elements that had niched in my subconsious from the Vedic culture. The three birds have elements of the Hindu gods Vishnu, Shiva and Brahmah and in my interpretetion are debating over who gets to govern the universe of water in the middle. In Vedic culture, Celestial Universes are the Oriental interpretation of the Western paradise.

First Sunset in LA

A Sunset in LA

Acrylic and Posca Markers on Canvas, 18 x 24 in.

While discovering LA for the first time, I was couchsurfing in a house in Echo Park. I made this painting for my host’s record label called Pepper Fish, as thank you present for housing me and introducing me to the underground music scene at the Bootleg Theatre.
