About
Maria Laura is a Belgo-Peruvian LA-based costume designer, illustrator, and visual artist with a particular interest in socially challenging projects. She has designed costumes for film and theatre productions, in addition to technical and design work for the Santa Fe Opera within the apprentice program. She also participated as an international guest artist at the runway Arte & Moda (Art & Fashion), held in Havana, Cuba.
As a part of a multicultural family, Maria’s theoretical work explores subjects of identity, poverty, race, and feminism.
Education includes a BFA from Mod’Art Peru in Fashion Design, and a BFA in Theater Design for Costumes, from the California Institute of the Arts.
